MUST READS! *I will add more must reads as I read them*
Hey,
So to start things off with a bang I am going to recommend some books that are absolutely amazing, show-stopping, life changing etc. These books are the one that make you look like a serial killer gone shreck the next day because you went to sleep at 3:37am. The books that truly bring out your inner nerd and throw your social life out the window until you have read every word on every page with breaks for only the most basic human needs- eat, sleep, rave & the unmentionables. In other words:

CONTESTANT ONE: Poison Study Series by Maria V Snyder
10/10
This fantasy series follows the life of orphan girl Yelena, a 20 something year-old girl who, when sentenced to death, is given the option to work for Commander- the ruler of Ixia. However, this is no ordinary job, Yelena is offered the position of posion taster. Faced with immenant death, Yelena chooses to live, and as she serves her sentence, become wrapped in the palace life, in particular the mysterious, sexy, assassin and right-hand of the commander- Valek, who also happens to be her trainer. The books were originally made in trilogy form, so, if you aren't a long series fan you can stop at book three feeling satisfied and knowing that all ends have been tied. Due to popular demand- pretty much everyone just went crazy over the trilogy and demanded more- Snyder has written 3 more, with 2 more set to come. So there is no excuse not to read the books as if you either like series or hate anything more than a trilogy, these books fit.
Honestly, this book is a godsend. Snyder has created a world that is so intricate and full of life that you could loose yourself for days in. Reading this series, I was so wrapped up in the adventure and love interests. It is the kind of series that will leave you with nails bitten down to the stubs, a book hangover, and a need to know more about Yelena, Valek, Ari, Janco, and all these other characters who you won't know about until you read the book (hopefully soon). Seriously, I recommend that you read the first chapter of the book in a bookstore or library, and if you are not hooked... move on to my next recommendation and cry because you are missing out. NOTE: Maria V Snyder has continued the trilogy to create a series of 5+ books, you do not need to read the books past the 3rd one- everything finishes like a normal trilogy would- it is just Snyder trying to rake in a bit of dough because everyone is obsessed with her writing (guilty as charged).

CONTESTANT TWO: Shatter Me Trilogy by Tahereh Mafi
10/10
This dystopian trilogy is set in a wasteland future and follows a girl called Juliette. Juliette has a killer touch- literally- and is locked in a cell for nearly a year after an accident where her touch killed a young boy. When she is removed, it is discovered that the head of sector 45- Adam Warner, wants to use her power as a weapon of war, much to Juliette's horror. In this fight for freedom, Juliette stumbles across things she never thought were possible... happiness, friendship, love.
OK! Mafi has done an amazing job with these novels. The ideas are original and flow seamlessly into the rest of the novel. I particularly liked the character development that you can see throughout the novels with both Juliette, Adam and Warner. Thus, I definitely recommend this trilogy! NOTE: there are more sexy hunks in this book- how can you go wrong? Also, I have recommended this book to a tonne of my friends, and those who have read it like it just as much as I did, and not all of them are readers. A Court of Thorns and Roses is a fantasy trilogy following a girl named Feyre who, after killing a wolf who was in fact Fairie, is taken to the world of the Farie's. As she is forced to live with the tempermental High Lord of the Spring Court, Tamlin, she starts to see a different side of him and become wrapped in this world she has become a part of.
Recently I stumbled into the world of ACOTOR after a fellow book lover recommended me the series. I was skeptical, but by god I shouldn't of been. These two books (the third book comes out in 2017) were so well written, with the storyline and characters developing seamlessly and in a way that allows you to revel in the world that Feyre has become apart of. Mass has a stunning writing style and the world that she has created so vividly seems so real in my mind. I cannot recommend this series enough. One of the few books that will keep you reading all night and desperate for more. If you are ever looking for an amazing book that interwines adventure, fantasy and love, this is your novel! READ IT. CONTESTANT THREE: Stolen by Lucy Christopher
9.8/10!!!!!
This book is about a girl named Gemma who was at an airport with her parents when she met an attractive guy who, unbeknownst to her, slips a drug into her drink when she isn't looking and kidnaps her to outback Australia. The novel is about her starting to see Ty (her captor) in a different light while she tries to deal with her new life that she can't escape from. This book is really really really good! It is written so well I felt like it could be me who was taken. The set out of the book is so clever and it really helps to tie off the ending- which is realistic and perfect. Lucy Christopher has developed the book so your view of Ty alters as the book progresses in a way that is makes the reader addresses Stockholm syndrome. When the book ends you really contemplate everything that happened and you keep replaying everything in your mind- its beautiful. One of those books that you feel really connected to the characters. CONTESTANT FIVE: The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth
10/10
The novel follows a girl named Tris, who lives in a dystopian post-apocalyptic Chicago in a society whereby everyone lives in one of five factions. These factions stop anyone from exercising free will and if someone was to rebel against their faction, they are killed. Tris, after finding out that she is a rare 'divergent' who does not fit into a faction, chooses the faction of Dauntless. The novel is about Tris finding herself and dealing with her new life where she has to keep secrets from everyone, even her gorgeous instructor who seemingly gets under her skin like no one else.
You probably have heard of this trilogy before or even watched the movies, but honestly, the hype surrounding these books is all justified. Roth has an excellent writing style and is realistic about the consequences of war. Also, if you have seen the movies, don't pass off the books. Like most movies, only the basic plot is covered. The books go way deeper into Tris and Tobias as individuals and what is happening in the world around them- plus they make more sense than the movies. Furthermore, the romance is a great feature of the novels! So, even if you think you already know what happens, still have a read.
