Dust Lands Trilogy 9/10

Blood Red Road- Moira Young

Book 1: Blood Red Road 9/10, Book 2: Rebel Heart 8/10, Book 3: Raging Star 8.7/10

This series follows Saba, a girl who lives in a dystopian post-apocalyptic society with her father, twin brother and little sister. They live far from civilisation, or lack there of, in a desert where they struggle to get by. One day, Saba’s world is turned upside down when cloaked horsemen come and kidnap her twin and other half, Lugh, killing her father in the process. Knowning that she cannot survive without her brother, Saba embarks on a journey to get him back from the evil clutches of the all-controlling king who has horrible plans for Lugh.

This series is definitely a recommend. The style of the writing that Moira Young has used her stories in is really unique and unlike anything I have read before. Another one of those books that gets you really attached to the characters and what is happening in their lives. I definitely both laughed and cried (multiple times) in just the first book! If you are looking for an adventurous series with a sexy side of romance, this is a great book for you.
NOTE: The ending will make you cry, laugh and sad because the trilogy is over.    Click here to see the Dust Lands trilogy on goodreads

Violet Eden Chapters by Jessica Shirvington 8.5/10

Violet Eden Chapters by Jessica Shirvington

B1 Embrace: 8/10, B2 Enticed: 8/10, B3: Emblaze 7.5/10, B4: 8.5/10, B5: 8.5/10

This series follows a girl named Violet Eden and the events that occur when she goes from a normal, art-loving teenager to Grigori fighting warrier when she discovers on her 17th birthday that she is part human, part angel. With her Grigori partner being her long-time best friend who she has always loved- Lincoln- she has to decide whether she wants this life in which she will be in constant danger, and more importantly, constricted to the rules of being nothing but partners with Lincoln. As she struggles to accept what she has become and the kick-ass skills that come along with it, she meets the gorgeous exiled angel Pheonix and gets involved in a world that she never could have imagined where she is more powerful than anyone could have expected.
This series is awesome. Jessica Shirvington hasn't skipped over anything like most books do. Life, sex, love, hate, loss, everything. It is put straight out there in all it's imperfections and tied into Violet's thoughts and actions. I also like this series because all the books flow into one another, with the series not having a new adventure each book. Plus, I felt like at the end of the series, all the ends were tied and although being both a sad and happy ending, it felt real. Shirvington is an amazing writer and has done a great job with the love in throughout the books. While a large component of the novels involves 'love', I feel that Violet, while sometimes getting caught up in it, just keeps going on with life and the important stuff with all the shit that's happening- which is refreshing. Just keep in mind that this series is a 5 book series, which is quite long. So if you don't have the patience to read more than a trilogy I would go read another, shorter series (I recommend the Juliette Chronicles- check out my must reads for the review). However, if you have a taste for action romance and a desire for a well written series that will absorb you into a new world, this is the book for you.
