The Ashes Trilogy by Ilsa J. Bick

Distopian Trilogy about a girl with cancer named Alex who is hiking in the woods when there is an explosion. After realising that all the electronics are down Alex figures that the explosion was actually a very large EMP (electromagnetic pulse- a bigger version of the bomb Basher uses in Ocean's 11 to cut the power during fight night to allow George Clooney and Matt Damon to get into the- sorry I'm getting carried away). However, the bomb killed nearly all adults and turned most of the teens into cannibals with only the young and old surviving. The only teens to survive were those with some kind of problem that didn't allow the EMP to fry their brain- Alex had cancer. After meeting another guy her age who happens to be a really attractive babe, Tom, and a kid named Ellie. The three try to survive in this new zombie-like world.
YOU SHOULD READ. The setting is really awesome, kind of zombie but not because the zombies are still alive. Very realistic, I feel like this could happen to us (although it won't) but you know what I mean. Only issue was with the third book, the middle of the book was told from so many different perspectives it kind of bored me. Still definitly recommend! Ignore the names of the books and you will love them.
